noise?

does anyone have the antec sonata? i want to know if the fan that came with it is quiet. cuz my computer is loud and i think its the heatsink. i want to verify so i will know if i have to buy a new heatsink or not.

heatsinks make no noise, the fan on the heatsink may be the problem are we talking about a cpu cooler, or something else. You may just want to buy a new fan to put on the heatsink

My friend has that case, it's pretty quiet. You can only hear it when theres about absolutely no noise, otherwise, you can't hear the fan at all.

Alright thanks, I see that there are screws to remove the fan off my heatsink. I measured it from screw to screw and it is 80mm. Does anyone know a good, cheap, and quiet fan I can replace it with?

can i replace it with a 80mm case fan?

No, the blower wouldn't blow the air onto your heatsink thus causing your cpu to overheat. If you really want your case to be silent, then get a heatsink that uses 120mm fans.

i really don't want to spend a lot of money. so is there a silent 80mm fan that i can replace my heatsink's fan with?

my heatsink/fan is cooling my cpu fine, but the fan's just really loud.

Those fans seems all pretty loud, especially the masscool one, as I've seen reviews of it saying that it's much louder than advertised.

The sonata comes with two fans only. The powersupply fan and the case fan. They are both quite quiet. The only noise issue i had was with the gpu fan and the chipset fan. The cpu fan was not an issue either.

Actually, it comes with 2 psu fans, though 1 of them doesn't turn on unless the temperature in the PSU rises over a certain point.

you chould get a 3 pin fan and plug it into your motherboard then use a program like speed fan to slow it down so it isn't so loud

I kno, im not concerned about my case fan right now. im looking for a quiet fan to replace my heatsink's fan. i tried slowing it down with speedfan, but the cheap piece of crap didn't do anything. so i want to get my heatsink a different fan
