Noisy computer - Fans or ?

Hi,

I find myself in a situation, where my desktop occasionally makes a lot of noise for about 30 seconds and then returns to normal... I have been googling this and seems like most people blame the fans? But how do I know this and can you recommend a fan software that can check whether they need to be switched or not.

Best regards,

Open the covers and run the computer for a few days. When the noise starts you should easily be able to identify where the noise is coming from

Yeah, I have done that... I am just not sure where the noise is coming from - I have a fan just above the PSU, so could be both...

I'll try again, thanks!

Disconnect any accessible fans and see if the noise reappears. That would leave just the PSU fan and the CPU fan

Hi,

I disconnected all the fans and found out that it's the PSU who makes all that noise. However, I have occurred a problem. When I start the PC, it says beep beep, and then it says CPU fan not connected or something like that.
And then I can choose to go to main settings or just start the PC.
I connected the fan just like I disconnected and I can see it going - what to do?

Check the fan connection is fully inserted. Try resetting the BIOS to defaults. If no better one of the wires must have broken internally when you disconnected it. Ideally replace the CPU fan unless there is a setting in the BIOS to override the fan warning.

Sorry that isn’t possible, all BIOSs are different. Boot into the BIOS and there should be a setting to load optimised defaults. Alternatively on the motherboard look for a coin shaped battery marked CR2032, remove it for 30minutes then reinsert. That should have the same effect.

I just looked at the BIOS options and I can see that CPU fan 1 is not enabled but CPU fan 2 is enabled - Should it be fine or what do you think?

Yes ofc:

Did you by any chance plug the CPU fan into the wrong connector? - it looks as though there may be two CPU fan connectors on the motherboard.
if you look at the bottom of the screen shot it tells you how to select enable/disable.

Shouldn't matter, likely sends the same data to both headers.

Sound should be easy to track down. Run it with the side panel off and when it starts, stick your ear down by it and see where it's coming from. Can even touch the center of the CPU fan for a second while it's spinning to slow it down enough to tell if it's that one.

Except for the fact that the BIOS knows which fan is plugged in - see his previous post

Now It just says CPU fan 2 not operating instead of 1. How do I stop it from going to BIOS directly when turning the Desktop on? I tried the default settings too... but it seems like it doesn't have an impact.

I missed the post that it wasn't booting due to CPU error. My b.

Ideally yeah you'd want to be on one but it shouldn't really matter much.

You might have screwed up your boot order/settings when you reset it to default and now it just kicks you to BIOS. CPU fan seems to be working. Still giving that error?
