Hi ppl,

can anyone help me with my problem? I have no trouble getting into windows, but once I get in, I dont have my usual msn running when it ought to. And when I click on it, it doesnt run. Same goes for alot of other applications. I cant seem to be able to turn it off i the proper way either, except just switching off the power or using the reset button. Is this some hardware failure coming? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks alot in advance and I appreciate the help.

Are they all programs that come installed with Windows, or are they a selection of Windows and other authored programs? If it's Windows, open Add/Remove programs, and go to Windows Setup, then deselect all checkboxes (making a note of which ones were ticked). Hit next, and finish the wizard. Reboot Windows, go back into Windows Setup, and start the process again. Retick the ones you deselected. You may be prompted to insert your installation disk. Finish wizard, and the apps should work. If its other programs too, I'm not quite sure, but I'm pretty sure somebody will be able to help you out.

There are situations that I forgot to add on to. I did try running my adaware scans but somehow, even after leaving it on for half a day, the program gets stuck and does not clear up the worms that I have. And there would be programs that take an excessively long time to run.

An example would be when I wanted to reformat my PC and inserted the XP Cd. It was just hanging there and I think after 10-15mins, only then did it proceed on to the installation. Hope these info helps, and I hope anyone who knows what's happening can enlighten me on this. Thanks alot.

P.S. Oh, a good point to note is that, It actually applies to some other programs too, but I'll give it a try nonetheless. Thanks.

Sorry, but there's one impt thing I forgot to mention. i.e. I actually have an unknown hardware component that the PC detects everytime i start my PC. I cant install it and I have no idea what component it is.
