My plan is to just get it from dells website and use the 30% off coupon for a comp thats 999 dollars. I need you guys to help me decide how to get to the 999 dollars. (coupon thus making it 700$)

I want the 14.1" screen

http://www.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/entnb_e1405?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs

And I know I want the WXGA+ with true life, and sound blaster audigy, and the smallest (60 gb) hard drive.

Everything else I am completely mixed about...especially when it comes to the NON gaming aspect.

Theres the questions of
512 or 1 gig ram,
6 or 9 cell battery,
5400 or 7200 rpm hard drive

I dont know how necessary any of those upgrades will be if I dont do any gaming. Maybe you guys could help me out. Before any are picked...the price is at 963...so its sort of like I can choose one of the above options.

By the way I am only talking about the duo core selected processors...for some reason the coupon doesnt work when I try to pick the solo.

Also wondering how important a 2 vs 1 year warranty is.

IF ANYONE KNOWS OF AN EVEN BETTER DEAL FOR A 700-800 DOLLAR LAPTOP PLEASE SHARE!!

Thank you!

ugh. i dont want a refurb. they had hardly any products that were new and they were all way out of my price range or a bad deal FOR the price.

I would go with 1GB of RAM, since it will allow you to multi-task better, having more programs open at once without as much of a slowdown, and it will allow you to run more memory intensive apps.

I would deffinetly go with the 9-Cell Battery, they last an average of around 3-6 Hours on a single charge, depending on the settings you have them on.

The 7200RPM is significantly faster in terms of loading times for Windows/Games/Apps, and transfers files quicker. However I have used many 4500 and 5200RPM drives and the 5200RPM drive is fine.

The Core Duo is a very powerful processor, you wont be dissapointed.

Depends on the price, I find 1-Year to be enough however some people like longer warranties.
