NOOB question

im in the market for a new computer. im trying to learn a little bit about what to buy. i like the offers that dell has for the following computers.

i know nothing about computers..... nothing..... i would like to know the differences bettween the studio notebooks and the inspirion those are the two that im looking at.

i dont do anything too serious no gaming other than little online games i will use it for school work, music, and just to surf the web.

would i have to upgrade any of the components on any of these computers for them to run quick and smooth.

i have a desktop now and its the slowest thing going i would like somthing fast.

but other than that just anything to guide me in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated.

Studio laptops are going to be better for picture/video editing and things like that the inspiron is a GREAT laptop just for the normal everyday things that you would do.

From what it sounds like the inspiron would be the best for you

Indeed. I like the Inspirion laptops a lot. Also, they cheapest one they have won't be too bad for what you said you're doing. I'd got with one up from the bottom at the very least though. That's just me.
