Noob question...

Okay, I'm getting ready to deploy to Iraq and I want to take some of my DVD's (retail movies) with me. However, I don't really want to take the chance of ruining them or losing them along the way.

Sooo... my question is:

Will a DVD-RW copy my movies or is it strictly for burning files into DVD type media?

I know, dumb question- but I figure I better ask before I spend some $$ on a burner only to not have it copy my real DVD's.

Thanks in advance!

the software is what actully what copies the files so if the drive can read them then yes you can copy them(although im not sure if it is legal which would make this topic against the rules)

if you have nero 7 go to google and find a copy of dvd shrink download this it will rip and encode your dvds to your pc and then automatically start a burn process to a blank dvd

Copying DVD's is illegal regardless of your intent I'm afraid. You are breaking the copy protection software built into the disk, which is illegal to break. The above software does just that, and so is illegal.

If you wish to discuss this, you'll have to find another forum.
