hey guys,
I'm moving off to school, I've got a roommate. He's gotta laptop, I've gotta desktop. We're going w/ Comcast, as that's the only choice. He's got a wireless card, I do not. W/ Comcast, they want an extra $100 tacked on to the setup charge if we need it a 2nd modem or whatever. Can we just get a wireless router hooked up to the modem, and make it work like that? Otherwise, we'll have to cough up $50 a piece, that I don't really have to spare right now. Thanx, Wes

Yeah, we have 1 connection and modem that we have a wireless router connected to that we share 3 computers off of... Comcast won't be able to tell the difference. Heck, we're still getting free standard cable, even though we're paying for basic... lol!
Oh, and you can just hook your computer directly up to the router, since he has the wireless card...

so basically we could get the router, wireless I'm assuming, or wired, b/c I think he'd prefer wired, b/c like me, he's a complete computer moron. He's worse than I am though, haha. So I hook my computer up to the router that is then in turn hooked up to the modem, and he can hook his up like mine? Thanx a ton. Peace, Wes

**edit**
can you give me an idea on a descent router?

Get a Linksys Wireless router. It will give you an option. It has four wired connections available. Lynksys is a sub-company of Cisco so it has a name behind it, if you're worried about that.

as far as reliability goes, I'm semi-concerned, but they aren't an arm and a leg, so its not a HUGE deal. I found it on circuit city's site, not a bad price $60. I appreciate your help here and in the other thread. Peace, Wes
