Norton AntiVirus Gaming Edition

Hmm..

I'm in the market for an AV that protects very well and doesn't lag/interrupt my gaming sessions.

AV products shouldn't unless the game has a virus.

What your looking for is probably a good firewall.

But if you still want an AV go with AntiVir, can't go wrong there.

I was looking at NOD32, know anything about that?

I had it before i got into AntiVir, it was okay but once i got AntiVir it immediately found 1 or 2 infections no biggies but they were there. NOD32 is good with looks but i don't think it's all that great in the detection department.

Also AntiVir has a unique(?) feature like a firewall, for example once i was on a bad website since i accidentally clicked on a banner without thinking WOT (FF add-on which i highly recommend along with Ad Block Plus) alerted me then AntiVir popped up with a deny access option which i selected but i was to late. The upside was that AntiVir was able to deal with the infection quickly and effectively.

I've heard it's good.

The Norton Gaming Edition could just be a marketing tool to make more money. Kind of like D-Link's "Gaming" Router.

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought when I saw it, but they're advertising that it wont annoy you during gaming sessions, and its lightweight and stuff, so.

But I want something that's powerful and something that won't annoy me, lol.

Thanks.

I reccomend Kaspersky Internet security 2009....no system lags,no pop ups when it updates etc and you can customise it to scan when you want etc.

I've used nod32 for the past year or so and don't experience any lag at all...the most you'll notice is a bit of a hiccup if you're playing while the program/definitions update, but thats only once a day.

Norton products are expensive and as much effective as avast which is free. I don't believe that Norton won't slow down my computer anymore. I have ever bought a Norton product and I won't do that again.
