NORTON or Free Avast?

Hi - I'm buying a new pc and the sales person suggested that I go with Norton 360 rather than the Free Avast protection I have now. I don't do gaming - my pc is mainly for email, I'm on a few Forums, I watch video clips off YouTube and elsewhere and I store photos and video on my pc.

That's what I mainly use my pc for and Avast seems to be working okay so far. I've used the free version for a couple of years now.

Norton 360 is $55 now
Avast = Free
Is Avast good enough??
I'm asking here because the sales people where I'm shopping for a pc all say it's better to buy a good Antivirus and "don't just use a free one such as Avast."

thoughts please?

They're just trying to sell you another product. Skip it and just get the free version of Avast. Avast is leaps and bounds better than any Norton product anyway.

Agreed. Salesman usually get commission off of any extra software they sell you. There is no reason to buy an antivirus program when Avast works just as well and not bloaty.

Avast is good enough for sure but if you're willing to pay for Norton, it's not a waste of money either. To be honest, I have Avast but had Norton and they both work fine.
