Usually after about 6400 files scanned Norton just freezes, if you try and stop scan it freezes the whole computer. Last night it got up to 150,000 files but now it's stopped again, I know it's working because both my cores are averaging 60% usage.. This is where it freezes:

c:\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\winmobil.inf 1c3787bf\rapistub.dll

..Anything that I can do? I don't want to delete Norton because it's so screwed up that my subscription is never ending, it's stayed at 333days for about 1.5years

Moral of story: Norton sucks.. a lot

Norton

My advice is uninstall Norton - Forever and bin the Disc's.

Norton is the worst and most unreliable Anti-Virus software on the planet, it also slows the average Computer down by 20 to 40%, it's crap........

Use a free Anti-Virus like AVG8.

Encryptor
Linux rocks the planet...

Whoever made Norton should be shot....

Symantec Sucks!!!

Get free avast!

(Disclaimer, actually shooting the person who made Norton is illegal and should not be performed by anyone...Not that I'd judge you but..)

Yeah yeah, the fact is I've been using Norton Internet Secuirty for 6 years and never had a single infection that stayed on my computer for more than an hour.

Norton Internet Secuirty 2008 is one of the best scanner, but still a big resource hog, I admit that.
Just don't say Norton suck because you encountered a problem, lots of softwares have bugs and incompatibility.

Might as well be a virus.

Yes KIS is way way better than Norton i have it aswell !!!!

...so...we're not gonna shoot the norton guy?....

Easy example.

I downloaded the Torjan.Downloader of Limewire on a computer that I use for virus tests that had Norton Internet Security 2008. Norton picked it up, deleted the infection (I checked the HJT and DSS log).

Then Installed AVG, Avira, and Kapersky and none picked it up.

Same goes for the msn virus.

You guys are just saying what everyone is saying without knowing what you are talking about.
