Norton!!!

Hello

I am working on a system i have just Coupled about a week ago. And have been having problems ever since. What is happening is that, it restarts on its own. I have a P4 3E-GHZ Intel Desktop Board D865GBF, 80GB HDD, 1.28GB RAM, DVD-R, etc..I have Tried all kinds of solutions and still sometimes it restart.

I was wandering if norton could cause this. Norton has been giving me a hard time while installing and updating, various problems. Now i uninstalled it and tried to install Macfee such refuses to install. Gets to the stage where i should start installing and it doesnt do anything. The copy i have is good and working. But only on this system its messing up.

I am confused and worried. Pls any help or any kind that could solve this, woule be appriciated

Yeah, definitely sounds like a software conflict issue of some sort, spyware or otherwise. If you are running WinXP open up the CTRL+ALT+DELETE menu and hit the "Processes" tab. Check to see what's running in there and shut it down...
 
Run the steps in the security sticky first, and make sure your clean, then uninstall all things norton, reboot and try the install again. :)
 
I am going to format tomorrow for the 3rd time now. I am going to remove all my hardware that i attached on and see what will happen.

My advice is just to get a new hd and then install norton dont install anything else exept for norton (firewall and scanning wise).
 
You didnt install windows that has already been downloaded on a different computer have you? My brother tried uninstalling windows and reinstalling it on a different computer and it worked.... except his computer did exactly what yours is doing.
 
Hey i think i solved the problem. well, before i formated the pc, i took out all the extra hardwares ex: fax, lan, Bluetooth, & even the Nvidia gforce 4 64mb agp card. it has an on board VGA, so i noticed that the colour isnt good. and while formation and setting up, a blue screen appeared while i knew it could be from the board. tomorrow i am having it changed and i hope it works out.
