When building a rig do you want your HD to be in raid or sata or ata? And on that note, I am definetly getting this mobo EVGA nForce 680i SLI NVIDIA Socket 775 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / SLI / Dual Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 & Firewire / Serial ATA / RAID which the detailed specs says can run ata66, 100, and 133...the HD I am looking at is in ata 300 shown here...Seagate / Barracuda 7200.10 / 500GB / 7200 / 16MB / Serial ATA-300 / OEM / Hard Drive...If this is a bad combo, can someone recomend a high end HD to fit this mobo? This is pretty much the only part of building a rig of which I am ignorant. I am very comfortable with every other aspect of building.

Thanks so much.

It's a SATA drive, and that board supports them. The 7200.10s are good.

I read some stuff about some 680i boards having trouble with it's SATA controller. There's supposed to be an updated BIOS for it though.

ata66, 100, 133 drives are the ones that use the fat 40pin ribbon cables, SATA150/300 drives are a different interface, they use a 7pin cable and the new drives all use the 15pin power plug instead of the 4pin molexes.
