Try to boot XP in " Safe Mode " and Scan for Virus.

***
- Press key " F8 " before XP Loading.
- Then Select " Safe Mode "
- Press " Enter Key " on Keyboard

When you first get through the post tests and Windows first starts to load press the F8 key to bring up the boot menu there and try the last known configuration that worked option. XP installed the other drives as new devices while they were plugged in and being used. Booting with XP installation disk to the recovery console to enter the "Fixboot" and "Fixmbr" sommands would be the next step.

none of those other startup modes work(the computer restarts before windows is even loaded)and there was a problem with my master boot record

i fixed it with my system mechanic profesional 6 cd

thanks for the help though
