I don't believe this is a stupid question but some may view it as one. What is SLI technology? My undertanding is it means I can have two SLI enabled graphics cards running side by side but this could be wrong. Help is appreciated, Thanks.

The next level up from the standard.
 
SLI connects two of the same nvidia based cards together for better performance. To tell you the truth your better off getting a higher end car than using 2 lower end cards!! SLI technology has not reached its fullest yet and most games dont use SLI to the fullest!!
 
Let's just break it down for him, shall we? Two slower cards are not better than one better card.

SLi = Scalable Link Interface
 
SLi is not always 2 card. could be 3. Or you can say SLi is 2 or more nivdia GPU running together on the same machine to get better performance.
2 card running side by side could be Crossfire...
 
And SLI does not double your video card stats. It's more comparable to a multi-core processor. You do not have a 9.6 ghz cpu because you have a q6600 at 2.4ghz with 4 cores, and you do not have 640mb of video memory if you have two 8800gts 320mb in SLI.

Nvidia's website has answers to FAQ on SLI if you want to get it straight from the horse's mouth.
