I am getting a error in my troubleshooting. Saying The intel Ethernet connection (2) I218- V adapter is experiencing driver or hardware problems. And I downloaded everything from intels site Any Suggestions?

motherboard: asus z97-a

Do you still have your motherboard cd? If so, just use that to install the driver. It may be an old driver but it should still work.

Background info: built the computer for Chase last night and I had to leave before drivers were done. He has no optical drive, but he should be able to use his other desktop/laptop.

Post a picture of the device manager with network adapters expanded so I can see whats in there.

Try using the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's website. What OS are you using? Make sure that the adapter isn't disabled or anything.

Download and install these.

EThernet - http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/lan/Intel_LAN_Win7-8-8-1_VER191510.zip

On the pci simple communications entry and the unknown device, please right click on each of those and click on properties, then click on the details tab, change property to hardware id and give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. They look like this. ven_xxxx and dev_yyyy. Where x and y are 4 alphanumeric digits.

I am using Windows 8.1, And how do I check if my adapter is disabled?

Right click the internet connection icon in the notification area on the taskbar, select Open Network and Sharing Centre and look in there.

Thanks but now I have a new problem! I turn on my computer, boots up, everythings fine. I log in, maybe play some games. Then my monitor loses the Signal and the only thing that I found to work is to restart my desktop. Cables plugged into the graphics card not the motherboard. It works for a little bit but then bam not working

Download the latest driver for your video card. If that don't solve it check cable connections. If it still happens, monitor may be going out on you.

I've tried two different monitor. I have unplugged power supply held on button. Took RAM out. Graphics card out. Dusted.. Idk what now.. I think it might be my motherboard.

The 290 requires a minimum of 650 watts, but that would be only at full load. Try a different video card and see if it still happens.

Ugh I don't have another video card.. This was my first build so I wasn't planning on all this haha... Suggestions?
