Not detecting Opticals

I have my Dell and it has just checked Email lately and played AoM. The CD+/-RW Drive and CD-ROM Drive is not in My Computer and when I insert the AoM disc it says that the CD is not in.

Thanks

If that doesn't work, then you can first try to uninstall and reinstall the drive under "device manager" which you can get to by pressing the windows logo key with the "pause and break" key together.
If that fails, then I suggest you open up the side panel and check that the connections are all on securely.

Never mind, I restarted it twice with no effect, I shut it down, wiggled the wires in their adapters and pushed them in. I started it back up and Viola. Very weird!?

Thanks

naw it happens, either thermal dynamics or you bumped it. I have seen sticks of ram bumped loose and I have seen data cables barely disconnected from a system just getting a bit too hot.

Thats why you always ask, is it plugged in first....

What are you tech support? Lol Sounds like Verizon or Dell, <Indian voice> "Iz eat plugged into zee wuhl?", "YES!! I just need you to overide the account password."

I work as a network tech for a school district, and I have spent plenty of time at help desk (its called paying your dues) and serioulsy man, asking is it plugged in actually fixes a lot of over the phone problems.

Prime example that happened a lot more than you would think.

Caller: My palm won't sync

me: Did you plug it into the usb docking station?

caller: Yes

me: Is the usb dock plugged in?

caller: ..........<long pause> ......yeah its fixed now sorry <click>

That should be your FIRST port of call, rule out any software errors and then go see if its plugged in properly, its standard procedure.

I started reformatting at 11:30 last night and it is still installing windows. I am building my dad a new one for Father's Day, this Dell sucks.
