Hi peeps,
Right, My system is in my sig, I have managed to get my 3500 to 2.6Ghz at 30c idle 45c load and I want to push a bit more, the prob is that something is not allowing me to push higher than above around 2.7.
I cannot be the ram as I have a divider set and never allow the ram to run above 200Mhz
My board is a AMD 64 / AMD64 X2 board (Gigabyte GA-K8N-Pro-SLi) which will not allow me to overclock in the BIOS (known issue with gigabyte and loads of people who have purchased this board)
The only other think I think it could be is my PSU, it is a Jeantech 450watt (Peak)...348Watt current!!, in my nVidia manual it says to have a 350W psu minimum!
I also have a SATA HDD, DVDRW, 6800GS @ 500/1120, 3500 @ 2.6Ghz, Gigabyte Mobo, Hard Drive cooler, 3 USB devices (that draw power from the mobo), 4 sound activated neon cathodes, 1 neon ATA cable, 2x 120mm, 2x80mm (1 @ 4200RPM), 1x 92mm and a fan controller (evo33) + front LCD panel.
What happens is that when my cpu is above 2.65Ghz, when I start up a CPU intensive app
e.g
Adaware SE
Google Earth
most games
the system will either freeze or reboot itself.
I think this is down to the psu because when the CPU has more load it obviously needs more power (which i dont have seing as my PSU is probably at its limit with all this stuff attached)
and because it cannot get this power the system stops or just restarts!
here are my rails
Vcore1 : 1.472v - 1.488v ( meant to be at 1.5)
Vcore2 : 2.54v (Dual core mobo)
+3.3v : 3.26
+5v : 4.57v
+12v : +11.78v
-12v : -3.89v
-5v : -0.93v
+5v : +2.07v
Vbat : 2.91v
These all seem low to me.
Do you guys think iI have this problem cos the psu cannot give my system enough power?
