Not quite sure how to do this.

I recently bought a video card, which is being shipped right now.

Right, now I'm running off of On board graphics on a computer that I built a few months back, and I'm not quite sure how to install the new graphics card.

So My questions are:

1. Would installing the new card, and then uninstalling the onboard gpu drivers cause any conflicts between the hardware?

2.And I want to know how a computer still displays anything once you uninstall the graphic drivers, power down, install the card, and then power back on again-all before you install the new drivers.

If I'm not clear enough, just ask.

Thanks :)

im not sure how to answer question 1 but i do know question 2. there wouldn't be any big problem before you install your new graphic driver. your computer may look laggy but that's about it.

1) You don't need to worry about uninstalling integrated graphics, most motherboards automatically disable integrated graphics when they detect an accelerated card.

2) bm23 was correct. The only thing you'll notice is any program requiring any type of video processing will be slow and the resolution will be low.

When you get the card before you shut down, download the new drivers for the new card and save then, uninstall the onboard drivers. Shut down and install the new card. When you boot up go into the bios and see if you can disable the onboard. When it boots go to the folder you saved the drivers for the new card and instal them.

If you could not disable the onboard in the bios, go into the Device Manager and look to see if its still listed/the board could have auto disabled it when the new card was detected. If not just right click on the onboard and click disable.

1> on board gfx do not have to be uninstalled they work simultaneously with the Slot cards. My spare computer in living room(garbage) but i have agp card and on board running 2 15" LCDs.

2.Just dl new drivers. turn off machine install new card and then install drivers
