Not recognizing SATA drive

I've had two IDE and one SATA HDDs connected up, but yesterday I had to reformat the master IDE. I unplugged the slave IDE and the SATA because for whatever reason it wouldn't format properly with them plugged in. I've got Windows up and running, both the IDEs are accessible but the SATA is no where to be found. It's plugged in properly because there's a little screen that comes up just before the Windows XP loading screen that has something to do with the drive (has always been there) and the drive gets warm after a while.

I've tried going into disk management and rescanning for disks and got nothing. I've flicked around with RAID and that didn't do anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

um look in BIOS see if you have anything in there... also you could try taking out the ide's and just using the SATA ...
