Not So Spontaneous Restarts

My aunt's computer just started to restart itself after they turned it off. They'd turn it off, and 10 minutes (not sure of the exact time, but the time was consistent) later it'd turn itself back on.

I solved the problem by turning off the wake on lan settings. (Before I did this, I tried updating the BIOS and disabling the second LAN and WLAN [P5AD2 Mobo], to no avail).

So that solved the problem -- but why was this happening in the first place? Is this a common occurrence?

That a common reason espcially if you connected to broadband. what it does is The Wake On setting allows a computer to be automatically booted if it receives LAN packets intended for it, or if the modem line rings.

But why WOL being used? Who was sending the packets?
Yeah, don't the packets need to be intended for the specific IP address? I couldn't even get my WOL to work when I was trying from my other computer accross the room :P

That's what I was thinking :P When she first told me of the problem, the first thing that came to mind was WOL, but I didn't think it was normal so I decided to try that last lol.
