..I don't know where it belongs. If it doesn't, could someone please direct me to where it /does/ belong? The only reason I posted it here is 'cause this woman from Dell thinks it has something to do with Nvidia.

x-x; I've been having this problem for some time now. Whenever I try to install anything, whether it's a spyware scanner to a stupid game, it doesn't let me. Something about the 'version' not being up to date. Doing this apparently affects my ability to open the task manager, because every way I try to, nothing happens. And when I try to open up the registry edit, I get this error:

The woman at Dell does not know what to do, nor have any of my friends seen this before. @-@ Help?

computer? Windows version? How long have you had the pc? Have you installed any new hardware software since this drastic change?

Well looking at the error again... The problem looks like an nvidia problem (ntvdm) but it is actually a problem with the movement of info from 16bit to 32bit.. so it is able to run on your pc.

By any chance do you use AVAST?

Well also found this on another forum..

"Hi...Thanks to all who replied to my initial thread... I found the culprit...it was a virus...(sorry forgot the name) Just run stinger( u will get it from www.mcafee.com) in safe mode...and it will remove the virus...U also delete the unidentified .exe's from your windows folder. "

Still problems?
