Well right now i am looking for a laptop under 3k, I wanted to go for a MAC but ive been told that Macs are not good for gaming, what I use the computer for is for Graphic Design, CAD programs, Maya, other major 3D programs (Mac gets a plus) and also for gaming now that's where i get confused, not sure what to go for. And the video card must be top of the notch since the majority of the software that i used require a good one. I checked out iBuyPower and made this set up

Q9000 and mobile radeon 4870x2:

Core i7 and GTX280M:

This is good if you customize with the Q9000, 4GB memory, 500gb 7200RPM HDD, and the FX2700M as its a workstation gpu, which is what cad programs and the like need:

Or, what i would think would prolly be best for you since it has the most powerful worstation graphics, this notebook, Customize it with Q9000,Vista 64bit, FX3700M Graphics, the " 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)" and the 250gb 7200rpm hdd.

Don't listen to Travis - since modern games now use quad core (GTA4 is a prime example, so much better on a quad). The only games that benefit from a faster core now are older games and Source-based games such as CS:S which require very little power anyway.

Who is the laptop manufacturer?

+1 That guy is going on and on about dual core at higher clocks being better than quad core

In a workstation environment more power is better.... Q9000 is more powerful than a dual core.

Those are specs to the lenovo thinkpad i gave him a link to;)

do you guys think that this one surpasses both?

really?

he sounded so convincing, saying that that build outruns both laptops that i mentioned before. ( ASUS W90, and the lenovo )

so then should I just got for the lenovo?

Yeah, go with the lenovo, expecially since you are doing CAD work, you will want a workstation graphics card and drivers. Plus all he is selling you is a sager notebook.. www.sagernotebook.com
