I've recently had my main computer crash due to a problem installing linux, so in the mean time I'm stuck using my laptop. My laptop has some of my music on it because I had a similar problem a few months back where my laptop became my main computer for a while. So anyway, I have 168 songs on my ipod, and I need a program to pull them off. I found a few out there, but they're limited to 100 songs. Ofcoarse when I loaded those programs I just let them copy the songs and pretty much all the songs I already had on my laptop were put on my laptop. So anyway, my Itunes library is so messed up with multiple copies of many songs. I know this can be a little sketchy because of pulling songs off of an ipod. I have a long thread about my computer problem in the OS part of the forums to assure you everything is mine. So does anyone know of a free program that works with the new generation Ipods(I have a 4GB 2nd gen nano). I forget the names of the programs I tried because I already took them out of my computer. Sorry for the long post.

now when I go to add them to the itunes library would it turn those random letters in to song names and artists, or would it still be random letters?

I did that, I made all the songs into one file called IPODMUSIC and when I select it, nothing happens.

This is because those folders with songs in them are hidden folders.To fix tis select all of those hidden folders -> right click -> properties -> untick hidden.
Now try and add them.All you songs, videos, podcasts should be there but you play lists and play count wont be.I know this because the same thing happened to me.
