I have a Compaq Persario V2311. It will randomly cut itself off. It can be running for 20 min or 2 hours doing the same thing (mostly running Firefox), so I highly doubtful it's an overheating issue. (Not to mention I have let it set overnight and it won't back on till I "reset" it.) After it cuts off, it will not cut back on until I remove the AC adapter (if plugged in) and the battery, and reinsert the battery. Then it will come on like normal and be fine until it just cuts off again for no apparent reason. There doesn't appear to be any build-up of dust or any loose metal that would cause a short. Anyone have an idea where this problem can be originating?
(And sorry if there is a similar threads like this. A LOT of threads show up that sounded like they were just sleep/function specific problems)
UPDATE: If I put the computer to sleep and then try to power on, I have to unplug the AC adapter and take out the battery. Definitely sounds like overheating isn't an issue.
