notebook ram brand

Hi all, I have a toshiba P4 3Ghz notebook that's starting to feel too slow. It's got 512 megs of ddr ram built onto the motherboard. But the bad thing is that the ram is shared with the display driver, so I only have 384 megs which is kinda pathetic. I want to add a 1gig module inside the ****er but I can't decide which brand to get. I just need a 200 pin 1gig DDR 333 (or faster) module. Prices on the net go from around $100 to nearly $200.
I have no interest in OC'ing my system: I just want the darn thing to work.
Is it safe to go for something like the corsair 'value' ram or should I get some kind of toshiba certified ram (which is available from crucial)?
Many thanks.

No it doesn't.

You can change the amount of RAM designated to the GPU if you want to.

Brand doesn't matter at all.

Toshiba certified doesn't mean diddlycrap. I would get something like this.

It could have the 512MB onboard, some lappys do, I know my school ones have 256 onboard, if you want to upgrade you just stuck a stick in the slot.

Trust me, it isn't onboard. It might be preinstalled but not onboard.

Trust me, as usual you have no idea what you're talking about. Toshiba released several notebooks with onboard RAM. Want a link? Ok. Glad to oblige.

Here's a guy with a Toshiba A65 with yup, you guessed it, onboard RAM.

Here's a whole search.

Here's an IBM with onboard RAM.

Rather than stick your foot in your mouth (I think this is the third time today)... Try some Google if you don't know.

I'm sorry, I knew that older laptops had that, but I did not realise that they still made them with that.

Third time? Huh...I don't seem to recall three times that i was wrong and you were right

It's not a big deal, really, but you want to be a jerk to me, don't expect me to be Mr. Charisma back. What goes on between PC Eye and me is really none of your business. I bash him, he bashes me. Fair is fair, and I have no problem with him doing so whatsoever. It really doesn't matter. We can both take it. We're big boys. In the end, when all is said and done, I would gladly buy the guy a beer and a dozen wings. You don't need to stick your nose in it.

Toshiba is one of the lines I sell... If it really matters any. lol :D
