Nothing won't recognize .avi

WMP and Sony Vegas don't recognize .avi videos properly. They just play the audio and not the video. VLC on the other hand plays both tracks. I need to edit the video with Sony Vegas but like I said it doesn't recognize the video...

EDIT: Downloaded some codecs. Seemed to do the trick for now.

I was about to say download codec it happened to me too but with different program...

I've always use the Divx codecs at www.divx.com.
