I upgraded to Windows 10, but there are many things that are extremely annoying about the new OS. Forced updates and privacy are the two biggest ones. There are many usability features too, you have two different control panels, the apps list is horrible with having to scroll down a huge list due to icons and large gaps between programs, Windows Live, and many other things.

I plan on building a new PC, and I am seriously considering installing Windows 7 on that.

I laughed, installed 8.1 from an old ISO, before it booted to windows it had to do an 'urgent update' and was trying to get me to upgrade to 10 before 8.1 was even fully installed....

I'm running 10 on my Zenbook (it's purely for school: Outlook and Office 365, nothing super personal yet e.g. SSN/Bank/Birth info)

On my PC: 10 Tech preview... and I have a copy of 8.1 I'll probably load onto an SSD when I find the $ :p

There are some things I would like to see added or changed, but I don't mind Windows 10. My family, on the other hand, want me to change their laptops and PCs back to Windows 7.

I've never seen Microsoft so pushy to get people to an OS before. First they offer it free for the first year, and during the upgrade process your Windows 7/8 license gets converted to Windows 10, and you only have a month to downgrade. It really seems like once they have a satisfactory number of users on 10, they will push more advertising/Bing, or go forward with a subscription model. The only thing holding me back from downgrading will be no DX12 support.

I'll be running 8.1 for at least another six month then I'll see if that will change. The fact that MS is so pushy for us to upgrade is also what's keeping me from upgrading. Apart from the security upgrades they made, why do they want people so badly to upgrade? Sounds like somehow we are going to get ripped off...

I have machines that are currently running Win 7 and Win 8 and I don't plan to upgrade them. I had an old netbook that wasn't being used so, just for the heck of it, I upgraded it to Win 10. Win 10 is OK, I don't have any major problems with it but there's nothing about it that makes me want to upgrade my other machines.

Any new builds or purchases will most likely have Win 10 but my current machines will stay with their current OS.

I upgraded but then reverted back to windows 7. The privacy issues I have heard about do not sit well with me. Hopefully after a few months those issues will get sorted out and I can move forward with the upgrade.

i will be running win7 for the next while until win10 has a few bugs worked out.after all,i have a year to upgrade.to my mind its not worth jumping on that bandwagon just because its new.

Yes I feel the same about it. Until the privacy thing is removed I will be staying on 8.1.
I upgraded to 10 just to see what it looked like. Within an hour I did a fresh install (which I need to do anyway) and went back to 8.1. Wish I still had 7 :-(

Windows 7.1 Pro, 8.1 Pro and 10 Pro and Ubuntu 15.04. Quad boot. That way I can used applications such as Media Center and older hardware as required. Plus its always good to have an alternative OS to get into to repair issues or obtain drivers.

For the time being I have 8.1 Pro on my Surface Pro again because I am having some issues with the tablet itself and want to see if I was having software or hardware issues, but it looks like hardware issues. The OneNote app in 8.1 is better than the one in 10 anyway as I mentioned in the Windows 10 thread and since I use my Surface Pro for OneNote that's important.

Otherwise I still have 10 Pro on my desktop and ThinkPad and all of the other five PCs in the house. So my Surface Pro is now the only one still running 8.1.

I have windows 7, windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.04 on same computer. I cloned 8.1 to another disk and upgraded the system. Everything went well during the prossess, everithing worked well with win 10 but I decided to roll back to windows 8.1 mostly due to privacy issues. I'll wait till next spring and if Microsoft insists on this behavior I'll stick to my old ops.
