OK... so i have a 250gig hdd with xp on it(OS im using now lets call it OS 1), and then I put in a 320 gig sata drive and installed XP(lets call this OS 2) on it again(cause OS1 is jst to messed up). but then after i installed XP on the new sata drive I was in windows for like 1 time then i couldnt be bothered installing everything else so i went back to using the origional one XP(OS 1), then when i could be bothered going back into the new XP(OS 2) It keept saying NtLDR missing please press Ctrl alt delete 2 restart ...

to get into OS 2 i have to change the boot pirority.

I have 4 hdd's.

2x 250gig (IDE)
1x 160gig (IDE)
1x 320gig (sata)

I have 2 IDE controllers,

1 of them with the 250gig(master)(call this HDD 1)(one with OS 1 in it) + 160gig(HDD 2)(slave)
the other IDE controler is a 250gig(HDD 3)(master) + DVD writer(DVD 1)(slave)

then a sata drive with OS 2 on it.(HDD4)

I know when i remove the 250gig hdd without the OS on it which is HDD3 my OS 1 will come up with NTLDR missing as well same problem so i can never remove my HDD 3 ? can someone help me i think it has something to do with my mother board some what

I have a P5W DH deluxe.

okay here is how you can rebuild all the files that are needed for the boot strap of windows

1) Locate your windows XP CD and boot off of it

2) Choose recovery console at the very first option, should be hit R

3) Choose the installation of windows you want to fix

4) Log in as Administrator, if you did not set an admin account the password is blank

5) Type the following code:

Code:
attrib -h c:\boot.ini

attrib -s c:\boot.ini

attrib -r c:\boot.ini

del c:\boot.ini

bootcfg /rebuild

fixboot

exit

This will rebuild the whole boot.ini, any system files needed to boot, and rewrite the boot sector with the new info

When you execute the bootcfg command make sure you use the proper options such as /noexecute=optin /fastdetect.

Also, this takes more time to accomplish but running a chkdsk /r will also clean up and rebuild any file system problems it finds. It just takes a while to do the full scan.
