Nuke HD / install Win 7

Hi all. My computer was recently infected with a virus. I would like to nuke the hd (I've heard formatting the drive isn't as secure) erasing everything but am unsure how to do this. Also, I've read installing win 7 is a cakewalk for a beginner like myself, is this true? Any tips or suggestions would be great. Thank you :D

Formatting it should be fine. I can't really offer tips on installing Windows 7, as I have no computers capable of running it... *shakes head slowly*... back on topic, I have heard however that it is simple to install, good luck. If you have any questions about it during or after install, be sure to post back and we will help you.
 
Yeah, 7 is super easy. Very explanatory. And I dunno where you got "nuke HD", but technically, if you had an HD near a nuclear bomb when it exploded, the EM emissions would destroy the electronics. I dunno how far you want to go to erase the stuff on your HD, but I think nuking is going to far ;).
 
if formatting with windows 7 just don't do a quick format. do a full wipe or something similar for the installation. worked well in the past and deleted all traces of previous installation and issues.
 
Very helpful guys thank you. In response to the nuclear bomb:cool:, my buddy recommended 'nuking' the HD with dariks boot and nuke. I didn't deem it necessary, just deleted the partitions and a full format at installation. Thanks again guys, much respect.
