NV Silencer 5

Just played FEAR for a 1/2hr, at these settings:

Left the nVidia cPanel open, and when I came out it said 50C

Does your heatsink look exactly as it does on the box in the picture you linked me?
Yeah I believe so

I also ran it at 1600x1200, avg ~35-40fps with THOSE settings.

Using*

As I said before, your too obsessed with cooling, 50C is FINE, you dont need to be under 40, you spending all that extra $$ for something you dont need I LOL at you :P

Go run it at those settings, 2.5GHz, stock video card, watch it choke, and tell me what you get :P (yes run it at 16X AF not a mere 4x)

50 c is FINE, i didn't say it wasn't but you claimed that it was at 36 C a couple posts before and i didn't belive you. My card did not load at 50 C it loaded at 75 which is a little high, so i got the NV. Not to mention the stock fan on the heatsink SCREAMS, the NV is silent. So i didn't waste my money in fact it was one of the best things i have bought for my system.

No the 50C thing about being high wasnt directed towards you, it was for Ku-sama who seems to think it is. He goes out and spends all his non-existant money to get better cooling, yet stock cooling is really good for what its worth.

My idle temp for my GPU is 35-36C, after gaming it seems to cool off rather quick I watched it drop from 50C to under 40C in a matter of a minute or two

But i just said that most people don't upgrade there cooling for better temps they upgrade for a quiter computer also. Not to mention the 100,000 other reasons that a individual person would up grade there cooling.

uh, Eric, i ran at 3GHz, videocard overclocked to 521MHz//1.16GHz and ran at 1600x1200 AA 16x and AF 8x, and got 45~FPS average.... and about the cooling, my card BY NATURE will run hotter then a 7800GT... with stock cooling it wasnt a surprise to watch it get up to 160F when it had the stock thermal crap, then with AS5, it was getting up to 150F, not with the NV5 and AS5, its peaking at like 110F

160F, 110F both are fine and WONT kill the card, no need to upgrade cooling to do that.

Why would your card run hotter? Mine is faster and so theoretically mine should be hotter.

I said stock video and only 2.5GHz, Im not OC'in this card at all right now. I can play FEAR, Halo, Battlefield 2, Far Cry, UT04, Doom 3, Quake 4 all at HIGH/Max settings and still pull 60+fps on average. With a mere 2.45GHz.

Clock down to 2.5GHz, and stock video and post a screenie with results.

dude, we have gone over this before, YOUR GOING TO BENCKMARK IN A 3DMARK PROGRAM BETTER!!! YOU HAVE 20 PIXLE PIPELINES AND A 7800GT, I ONLY HAVE 12 AND A 6800GS!! KEEP THAT IN MIND!! You cant compare a $200 videocard to a $300 one, same about the processors, you cant compare your $200 one to my $300 one, my 3DMark06 CPU Score was 1,186, beat that

I wanted you to go down to the same CPU speed as me and stock video to compare how much faster this card is to that one:rolleyes:

My 3DMark 06 CPU score is 949 Marks, and that was 2.4GHz, considering your 600MHz faster its not all that far away :P

at 2.4GHz it puts me exactly the same as you, id have to drop my multi to 10, just to keep your FSB and mine the same, but ill have the advantage due to my 1MB L2 but thats only gonna put me at a... 20 point advantage, but ill have another advantage, i know i can push 3GHz at 1.5v, as you can only hit 2.6 on 1.5V, and i also have some more breathing room, at 3.28 im at 1.55V and at 1.6x im at 3.4GHz... and thats a full 1GHz overclock for me... eric, ill end this now, my processor is better, bottom line. your GPU is better, bottom line. your approach to preformance is diffrent then mine, but if i can run FEAR at 45FPS at 1600x1200 with full eye candy, im happy with that, and if that gets boring, ill sell off my GPU for $150 and get the newest nVidia GPU out there.... i dont have living expenses for another 2 years eric, remember that... this "money that i dont have" thing.... lol... i have the money.... i get $40-$80 at a time, and times like tonight when i work 10 hours=$100 to my boss, and he said as soon as i pay him back, he'll give me $200 as a bonus, not needed to be paid back, so thats $350 with the sold videocard and the bonus, all ill need is another $150 and ill have a 7900GT, with processor power to back it up for another year or so.... now, arguments from my side end with what was stated from before: "my processor is better, bottom line. your GPU is better, bottom line."

and final statement for the thread: Yeah, the NV5R3 kicks ass, droped my load temps 50F

Just wait until you get a job and a place of your own, unless you have a really good job, no more upgrading your PC :P
