NV Silencer...

I just got mine and installed it. Rather than using the paste it came with(because it's the same junk that came with my CPU cooler and it wouldn't spread) I used my Antec Silver Thermal Compound. My GPU is now running at between 63-64C... Some change from the previous 67C

They did make an improvement with the design. Rather than having the copper base rased where the memory is, they have little sticky pads that touch the chips. The base is flat now, so I don't think there's a problem with it not sitting flush on my GPU...

At first it did go up to around 71C(and still rising) but I pulled it out and tightened it a bit. I didn't like the idea of how it sat on the GPU, but I guess it's safe seeing as it did improve it some.

Any ideas? It's not really that big of a deal if it's not quite as cool as I hoped. It's much more quiet. To be as big of a machine as it is, you can hardly hear it.

That's the point of it, it isn't meant to drop the temp significantly, it's designed to make it quiet. It may drop a bit more when the AS sets in. The unit is big so that they can run the fan slow and still get a good amount of airflow.

Yeah, they are meant to move lots of air without lots of noise. My CPU cooler is also by them and is very quiet... I just read reviews of people getting better temps than this with the GT...

There's other factors too, those people might have a lower ambient or a cooler setup in general

The reviews I saw showed both ambient and regular GPU temps... Well, I read on the tube of paste I didn't use, it said it would take 200 hours for maximum efficiency. We'll see if this works better after it's used for a while.
