Nvidia 8400 gs

COD

Hello,

I just bought a new computer and it has a NVIDIA 8400 GS 256 MB video card. I don't know a lot about computers so here is my question:
Is this a good graphic card to play new games? Can I play Call of duty: Modern Warfare with it? Thanks in advance!

The 8400 GS is a pretty low range video card. It has a fill rate of 3.6 billion/sec, and a
bandwidth of 6.4 gb/s.

I have a 7600 GT, which is one generation older than the 8000 series, I bought it
used recently for $30, and it has a fill rate of 6.7 billion/sec, with bandwidth of
22.4 gb/s. So even though it is older generation, it is twice as fast as yours.

The bad news is - your card is pretty weak. The good news - it won't cost you
much to upgrade it to something decent.

I think to play Call of Duty 4 you would have to turn all your settings to LOW, as well
as play in 800 x 600 resolution. And with those settings, it will still be pretty choppy.
Your video card will not be able to handle newer games.

Yes, you will be able to play the game, but as stated, it's a low end card.

I had the 8400GS for about 4 months on my first build, it was a good card for me, it overclocked soo well, i wish my 4670 could overclock like that card...

I mean i could raise the core clock 200mhz+ and the memory 200+ shader like 300+ and it helped it a lot in games, over the stock speeds i would get about 5-9 Extra FPS just by overclocking the card, this was important because i wanted my games to be ran at the highest possible settings, so it was important to maintain that 30FPS+ i think i could play @1024/1280 @ like 35fps, and i had it at low settings, this is for COD4.

So i would overclock the card first before you update, and see the results you get.
