So I got my hands on a PNY 8400GS and figured I would throw it in my old Dimesion 2400. I was using GPU-Z, ATITool, and RivaTuner to monitor and try my hand at an OC. This was my first time overclocking anything so I closed all programs and used ATITools find max core/mem buttons.
This was stock.
This was what ATIool came up with.
This was Where I took it to.
Now at this point I was very happy because I played some games and the OC delivered in a big way. This is when I got greedy. After reading about increasing the core by three mhz at a time and the memory by ten I gave it a shot. The results were great. My fps in ATITool went from 82 stock to 129 ATITool self OC and then 133fps on my OC. Then I pushed it just a notch more cause my temps were 58-59C. The core temp hit 61C and the FPS dropped like a rock to just under 100. The card still works and returning it to stock and trying again has not helped. What the hell did I do? ::steps into flame suit::
Also with the core at roughly 140F I was surprised to feel the card blowing cold air off the sink and the sink itself being cold to the touch.
