Nvidia GeForce 6200-need help!!!

Ok, only just the other day, I went out and bought myself a brand new computer. Now, I'm Australian, so for me it was AU$2200 and probably around $1500 USD. I bought a HP Pentium 4 3.2ghz (2 CPU's) with Hyperthreading, 1 GB of RAM and an Geforce 6200 TurboCache. I try playing Call of Duty 2 on this computer, and, to my suprise, i can only run things on medium-high settings on 800x600. I should at least be running everything on high in 800x600:confused: . I know my new dcomputer is more than capable of it. When i run dxdiag.exe it says the RAMDAC for my 6200 is integrated RAMDAC, yet there is no change to my ram count. Is my graphics card the reason that I am lagging a lot more than I should be? Do I need to upgrade to a 6600 GT at least? Or should I swap with the Radeon 9600 pro in my other computer?

if it is brand new i wouldn't open it and change anythign because you will void the warrenty. Maybe see if an upgrade is available through them?

For now, update your video drivers and close all running programes that you are not using.

So the 9600 ran things better than the 6200 does? I don't know much about the 6200's, but I know they are quite low end compared to say the 6600... Probably not much better than the 5000 series. Also, the card uses some of your system RAM if needed(not like onboard with dedicating 64M or whatever)

I would suggest upgrading the card. I feel quite sure that's what your problem is. No harm in trying new drivers first, but yeah, that's not a very high performace card...

It should run higher then that, I have a OCed nby default(375/800) 256mb 6200 and i can run it alot better then that. Then I oced it even moer and i could run it on one step higher...

Yeah its pretty good, but if you were going for gaming i would have gotten an AMD CPU, and later on you may want to upgrade that 1GB of ram to 2GB of ram, RAM is very easy to install, but for now 1GB should be nice.

No offence, but $2200 is really far to much for that computer, and with a 6200 it's really not designed as a gaming machine (although it would be quite reasonable for video editing, etc...). Your video card is really bottlenecking your system, and will need to be upgraded for high performance gaming. The 6600GT is about the minimum you would want to consider, but i'm sure that the 9600Pro is better than what you have now.

As Yue said, check the warranty before opening your system - it may void it.

Obviously though, check your drivers first, and if you are desperate OCing it may improve performance SLIGHTLY (although this WILL void the warranty).

I beg to differ there... The card is made more for 3D gamming than some, say workstation cards. Video editing require(obviously) no 3D processor. Even such things as 3D studio max are based more on the main CPU.

Well ceewi1, it was originally $1700, but i paid an extra 200 for another 512 RAM and another $200 for an extended warranty (3 years), McAfee 2006-$80 so all up it was $2200. Damn harvey Norman............

So basically, all I need to do is buy, say, a 6800 Ultra, and my compy will be running as it should be specification-wise?
