Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 problem.

Hi there,

I am new to building PCs and this was my first project. I built a PC with the following specs:

- intel i5 3.3GHz processor
- 1 TB HDD
- 4GB RAM
- Gigabyte GA-P67A motherboard
- 650W coolermaster psu
and finally my GTX 260.

Upon completing the build, I tried running the machine to start the process of installing an OS. Unfortunately, I never received any output to my monitor. One of the fans also short circuited however I think this was a different issue. Thinking it was the graphics card, I replaced it with a much lower spec gfx card and tried the same process. I then received output to the screen. Does anyone know any reason why my GTX wouldnt work? I think the psu isnt powerful enough however I've done some research and some users have claimed it should run on this type of psu. Any other tips to get it working? All advice is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not a jump up and down fan of cooler master power supplies, but it should power a GTX 260 fine. Did you have the PCIe power connectors plugged in?

That psu is plenty powerful enough for a 260. As stranglehold said, make sure that the power connectors are seated properly.

Once you've installed the OS, do you still get no video output, or have you not got that far yet?
