Nvidia Nvtv Tv Turner Card

This is my first post here so please bear with me. I am looking into getting a tv turner card for my computer and have been looking at the NVIDIA ones because I do not have any availabe PCI express slots or and AGP slots open. I like the NVIDIA turner cards because they encode on the card and takes away from CPU ussage. My question is do i need to be running Windows media center if I only want to record and burn dvd's of tv shows. I do not like Media Center because its nackbone is Windows XP Home?

Any help would be greatly apreciated or other suggestions.
 
No you wouldnt need Media Center. It should come with some software that will allow you to whatch, record tv shows.
 
Is there any tv turner card out there that would be good quality that would work in a pci slot, or is there any card compariable to the nvidia ones????
 
Im not sure. Im getting a tv tuner card, it should be here wedsday-Friday so i will tell you if it is any good.
