Nvidia or ATI

well depends

ATI has very good price to performance ratio. Also to crossfire you dont need an CF mobo, cause the std mobos have CF as opposed to SLI, where you need the SLI mobo.

Nvidia though controls the high end market, and therefore putting whatever price they want. their cards are better, but for the price, some are not worth it. Some have dropped like the 8800GT and you can SLI for good performance.

Basically it depends on the amount of money you have.

But there is no clear who is better. They are both good in their own respects
(typically Nviadia in Single GPU and Crossfire in multiple (cause CF scales MUCH BETTER), but cause nvidia has better single cards, performance matches.

wait for others opinions

Computerfreak put it very well. Nvidia has a hold on high end, however, the 3870X2's are extremely competitive in the higher end market, especially for 400.00. They both have something similar in most price ranges until you get to the 8800 ultra (for single gpu's) which I presume is still king. But you will a lot more and the price to performance ratio is not acceptable to me. It is relative on how much you spend. Go to each of their websites and ignore the 'ours is the best' bantor and look at some stats and numbers. Than make the decision for yourself.

That's incorrect, because you still need a motherboard that supports crossfire, the fact that Crossfire motherboards are more common than SLI does not make them standard. There are still motherboards out there with a single PCI-E slot and Crossfire will not function on those motherboards. Its because Ati are more welling to outsource their chipset than Nvidia.

well thats what i meant. that the Intel mobos are now coming standard with CF, and 2 PCI slots (so they support it)

Where as whith SLI you HAVE to buy an SLI mobo. but then again they not bad (unless you an overclocker, then they say they bad at OCing)
