Nvidia Physics,What are your thoughts?

I am curious if this worthwhile to get an old nvidia card to run with a higher performance one or is this really just hype?

I don't think I have played a title with it yet...and since I don't have a 4830 to compare with my 8800GT I dunno if its marketing or real.

Though Warmonger is suppose to be a free download with it enabled....I guess I will download it if it really is free to download.

I saw a list of games somewhere that enabled it.It was around 60 or so titles that can use it .I guess there will be more as more games come out.

I also dont know what the bottom limit(old) on a video card that you can use is?

I heard that only the GTX 200+ series have true PhysX...the 8-9 class cards have Ageia which can work but not as well and really lags the card down.

Is a good example of with and without physX which looks cool...but it will kill your FPS.

8600 and up so Nvidia says but a lot of people are saying it really kills performance till you jump to a 260/280.

Hmm well I guess if you go with dual Gtx 200 series cards in sli you will have excellant graphics anyway whether you use physics or not, hehe.

Umm... 9600GT with PhysX enabled isn't that of a lag. It actually works better when it comes to games that have PhysX as an option.

I only came to this threat to stare at Twist's avatar!

I know the 8 Series cards handle PhysX pretty well, it certainly takes a strain off of the CPU.

For the price of an 8600, I'd probably say it's worth it. There's games that use it, but don't make it so much of a deal. Like, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, I noticed when it was installing, it installed PhysX Drivers, yet, it didn't state on the box or anywhere else that it used them. When you're in the game, fences, body parts, other things... blah blah blah, basically, things blow up!

im with danny, just came in here to see twists avatar lol what a lovely thing.

anyway :D

danny does the latest Nvidia drivers already enable PhysX? im sure its enabled on my GT.

Yeah if you have the latest drivers you should have a PhysX icon in the Control Panel and a PhysX listing in the Nvidia Control Panel under Set PhysX Configuration.
