I have Dual Nvidia 8800 640mb cards. When im running SLi in the Nvidia control panel it won't let me have another monitor as extension. But when i turn my SLi off it gives me a bunch of option's on how to configure my 2 monitors. SO my question is how to enable twin monitors when running sli

Yes you cant it not possible.

Unless you have an extra pcie slot and $50 you can buy a shitty video card and run the second monitor off of that?

Kent.

wow thats ridiculous that you can't run two monitors off sli... are they going to change that? why is it in the first place?

why would they? it's completely counter-intuitive

the entire purpose of linking two cards together is to squeeze as much performance as posible out of a single display. to run SLi for multiple monitors makes no sense, so i doubt this limitation will ever be lifted..

You can copy an image to another display without having to render it twice..

Like the component out on my card let same clone the image of my monitor to my 37 inch HDTV, I doubt the gpu is rendering the image twice, but rather cloning it, as the name would suggest...

What if you wanted 3 monitors instead of 2, would it be so counterintuitive to have 2 GPU instead of 1...?

eh?

2 GPU's for 3 monitors instead of just a single card makes good sense to me, just like having an additional card for 2 monitors. Makes good sense to me if someone really wants to pay for something that doesn't give them twice the performance for twice the dollar.
