O.C.ing Pent D's

I see in O.C. 101 that the Pent. D 820 (2.8GHz.) is an acceptable candidate for O.C.ing. How much of an increase (%) could I expect to achieve with that proc. on a Asus P5LD2 mobo.? (If someone happens to recommend an alternate board, I'm not interested in SLI, and don't want to deal with Bios updates and B.S.)

Also are the Pent. D 830 (3.0GHz.) and 840 (3.2GHz.) acceptable candidates as well? And if so, how much of an increase (%) would I be able to expect from them respectively, on the same mobo.?
Thanks! :)

- It's been a long time since Ive played on a Intel dualcore box so i've really been out of it: now I can say however that the P5LD2 is a good platform to start from. If your budget can handle it I might suggest the P5LD2 DLX (adds an extra PCIx16 slot, an earthload more storage connections, a slightly tweaked audio setup) .. functionalitywise they are essentially the same though)
- Regardless of whether you want to deal with them or not -- i'd reccomend taking the BIOS updates regardless -- for the most part, they're there for a reason

The reason I suggested the 820 is simply because its the cheapest model (i., i'll generally reccomend the lowest, highest and roughly middle models as OCing platforms simple to accomodate people's budgets)

Thanks alot for your input. :)
In regards to the Bios updates, from what I understand the only reliable way to apply them is via a FDD, is that correct?
And they must be applied before installing Windows, is that correct?
Thanks again. :)
