i really need some help deciding price vs value here.

Now i do want to game, but i dont want something where i spend £60-£100 more on and get no obviously noticeable difference.

So i been googling and youtubing the i5 3570 vs the amd fx 8350

and if course i know the 3570 is better but side by side in a game of battlefield the i5 was running maybe 3-4fps more here and there.

Then i come across a video of the fx6100 vs i5 3570 and same thing again, only 3-5fps difference, then i found the price of a 6100 to be £100.

So what im asking is for a processor that costs £80 to play something like BF3 against a processor costing nearly double its price i5 3570k at about £182 is it really worth 110% price increase.

Is the fx6100 series known to be decent?

even better the fx6300 is a piledriver model and is £104, which is still £80 cheaper than the 3570K

Looking at it like that, the FX6300 or the FX8320. All FX are unlocked there is no reason getting the FX8350

the fx 8320 overclocked to 4.1ghz with an arctic heatsink apparently out performs every i5 and even gives i7 run for thier money? apparently!! from what i read, can anyone help me

Yeah the FX-8320 certainly does give the i5 3570K a run for its money, especially once overclocked and given the fact the AMD is cheaper than the Intel.

If I were buying any AMD CPU now it'd probably be an FX-8320. If you can afford it I'd get that over the FX-6300 or the FX-4300.

No reason to buy the old AMD chips now, so I wouldn't bother even considering the FX-6100.

so i should save the money go for the AMD FX-8320 then overclock it :)

Does that sound like a good plan?

It sounds like a good plan to me.

Alternatively you could go for an FX-6300 if you wanted to save money.

Just avoid the F-x1xx processors. Stick to F-x3xx.

Well if it were me I'd take the 3570K but the FX-8320 is still a great processor and it's cheaper than the i5. If you can afford it, get the 3570K and overclock that (because once you've overclocked the 3570K it'll be faster than the AMD), if not, get the 8320 and overclock it, because for the money, it's very good.

im finding mobos for the 8320 are more expensive for a basic one than an i5 mobo, this is gonna be hard.
