I am not the type to do the quests in the normal way if I don't absolutely have to. I'm playing Oblivion on my Dell Inspiron 1520 and it really moves (especially if I turn the grass off).

But I tried to play the game the normal way, by just working through and leveling up slowly. I didn't mind it for awhile. But I got so tired of not being able to do so many of the cool spells and effectively use my weapons. I was so tired of exhausting all my fatigue in a few jumps then having no strength for anything else.

So i tried a cheat; I leveled my fatigue to 100. WOW it was so much easier to play! Then I upped my magicka and then heath then almost EVERYTHING ELSE!

I wont mess with the actual level of my character though, and I didn't increase non fighting skills like mercantile of lock pick. I get around the locked doors with console commands if I cant pick something. I also use god mode and no-clipping mode a lot too. I got too tired of finding all that loot and only being able to carry a few extra items, so with god mode I can carry ALL OF IT! ha ha ha

I did most all the missions without any cheats other than personal ones though. I really liked the Dark Brotherhood the best, man what fun! Like being a Jedi or something! I hated all the thieves guild missions and the mages guild quests just to get to the university. The mages guild made me think of a really big corporation, or the government. Just too big, full of corruption and full of people who are totally ineffective.

I have enjoyed this game SO much more on the computer than I have other games on consoles. I like being able to cheat, and there are so many things that can be done with the console that I never could have done otherwise. Like flying up over the land to see a birds eye view of Cyrodiil and the cities.

One thing that surprised me were some of the books in the game, a few weren't half bad. I liked the one about the beggar prince and another named "Aevar Stone-Singer". Not a bad read, I read them online at the oblivion site. Kind of made me wish fallout 3 had stuff like that.

One thing I didn't like at all was that the main quest never tied into the side quests. I could just run through all the side quests without ever thinking or noticing any hint of problems "in the land". Why Bethseda, why???

And I noticed all the mods out there, and some looks pretty cool. However, I don't mod my games at all, ever. I wont add third party stuff to my games. I had a bad run-in with a mod for GTA Vice City (My favorite game) and said I wouldn't ever do it again.

So, do you mod, cheat, break the rules, look at guides on line or use game books, or anything else of the like? Or do you play without the compass or any help at all? (Oh yeah after struggling through not even a 3rd of Morrowwind. Yes, I LOVE THE COMPASS in Oblivion!)

I know that I am running through the game by playing like this, but its how I have fun at the end of the day. Maybe next time I won't cheat at all and just take a long time to play through, just to see how long it takes.

most of the time I play "normally" with no help. most games are easy enough that I can go straight through like this.

however, I remember I got so confused playing morrowind when i had to find some cube in the dwarvish ruins. i played probably ten hours, then could not find the cube after scouring the place, then just did other side quests for at least 100 hours, then got bored of the game. i decided to come back and try and beat it, so i finally looked online for help and felt like such an idiot for overlooking the easy to get to door near the entrance.

I tend to play games with no cheats on the first run.

After I beat something then I'll start playing with the games cheat codes.

I did change my characters weight allowance towards the end of Fallout 3. Simply because it wasn't fun running back and forth to sell stuff. No combat cheats though.

On my 2nd Fallout characters I gave myself all the story related perks, and boosted a lot of the stats so I could use all weapons.

With the number of games out and coming out that I want to play, I usually don't spend the time to fully play through something twice. I'll finish it and move on.

Well I prefer the OOO mod for Oblivion. Makes the game super tough and if you enable Easy Leveling mod it will auto level everything based off your skill uses.

Raise certain skills raises certaim stats as well etc...makes it more fun and less demanding to level up for +5 stats each level up to max out etc.

Also since SO many games cheap out on the storyline anymore...I would say it will be purely graphics. I haven't seen a game in the past few years with a good solid storyline or hard playing.

I prefer a challenge...I love to die a lot...I hope Fallout 3 gets moded to add more enemies/harder challenges etc.

All games nowadays have piss poor storylines, and i do not see that changing within the next 10-15 years unfortunately. at this point in time, it's all about graphics and being immersed in the game.

Better graphics are a given, and I see more and more about 3D vision and so forth so I'm sure within the next few years that will become even more popular.
