OC and cooling of core I7

Hello

I have a question about core i7 overclocking. Will I need to OC for toadys games lets say (crysis, gta 4, far cry 2)?
If yes would I need new cooler or the stock one is fine.

If I was to overclock I was thinking max from 2.66 to 3.2 not more, well at least for now. In future may need more probably

I don't know about overclocking, but I'm playing far cry 2 on a i7 920 with no issues on the highest settings.

I think it's going to be much more about your video card than the processor. The i7 should meet the processor needs for awhile without OCing.

Overclocking the Core i7 wouldn't make a huge difference in a lot of games because they are mostly graphics card dependent. Overclocking from 2.66ghz to 3.2ghz isn't a big step for Intel processors, so it wouldn't hurt.

You won't need to OC to see decent FPS in games with an i7. Though OC'ing will see you gain a few more FPS. It's definitely worth it!

I am buying ATI HD4870 X2 so graphics will be taken care of... So I see the cooler is not yet needed. Good to know - a few bucks saved for now

You will be able to hit 3.2ghz on the stock cooler. I have seen people running that speed with less than stock voltages (1.12v). If I were you I would OC. It will make your GPU the bottleneck instead of the CPU.
