Anyone ever oc a duron on one of the compaq 5000 series desktops, I am trying to get it to take 133mhz by changing the jumper on the mobo, it when it boots up the monitor wont turn on and the hd led stays lit, i tried clearing cmos, after more reading about oc'ing im feeling likeit might be the psu, considering its probly not too great since its oem system...any help is appreciated, btw the bios is too old and dont change/show the adv. cpu settings like multiplier n such, if u need to know its the 5wv254 model. Also there is 1 64mb cheapo memory that is only 100 mhz could my problems be related to the memory not taking?

it could the ram, however its more likely to be the voltage being supplied to the chip itself. i would imagine that more voltage would be require for the overclock you wish to achieve.
also, seeing as you have a compaq there wont be any options in the bios to help you achieve increase the voltage.
you might want to see if there's an option in the bios to run the memory at say 66 MHz then try changing the FSB to 133 MHz; the ram will be running a divider then.
i have heard of sites that have hacked bioses that will open up extra settings in the bios but i dont know if i would want to risk it.
