I need some help bringing my oc up.. I've got my p4 3ghz at 3.3 now and cant go much higher..

is there a problem with me having mixed ram? ive got a pc2700 and a pc3200 in right now. i can get to 3.45 with only the pc3200, but cant seem to set it up right for when there both at 180mhz and 3-4-4-8 I can get 3.3

ddrv- 2.7 (2.6 stock)
vcore - 1.575 (1.500)

any suggestions?

well so far ive got the ram timings at lowest running both the sticks at 160 mhz, vcore is still at 1.575

I have an option in bios to lock the bus freq at 800 mhz, will this increase stability? will it decrease some performance?

edit- its running at 3.5 atm

If you lock the FSB at 800Mhz, then you can't OC it.

You may want to raise the timings slightly, not try to lower them. And you may want to raise the voltage slightly, see if that increases stability.

I ran prime 95 and after 30 something minutes i got this

Test 1, 560000 Lucas Lehmer iterations of M212991 using 10k FTT length
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consuly stress.txt file
Torture test ran 32 minutes 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution Halted

got that same problem at 3.4

does any1 know whats wrong here?

31 mins in---

Get rid of the PC 2700 RAM and just use PC3200 or get another matching stick. It's generally important that RAM be of the same make an speed to insure that the chips used on them are made by the same manufacturer.

The earlier suggestion of loosening your timings to say 3-4-4-8 might also help.

ok I had already thought of that and so i just swapped my pc2700 512 for two sticks of 256 pc3200 same speed and timings as my other stick. I swapped with moms business comp, she'll never know :)

so 2 - 256mb are running dual channel
and 1 - 512 is running single

i can get up to 3.3 without prime95 shitting on me within 30 minutes.. but it runs stable for 3 hrs on 3.3 runnin p95

edit: oh yea i can start windows and run most apps and games at 3.6, just prime 95 says otherwise

3.6= 240 fsb, 5:4 ram running 192 mhz 3,3,3,8

AND

im running 3.3 at 220/220 and 3,3,3,7 :) should i just stay at 3.3?

QUESTION

Can prime95 be saying im runnin out of juice? im running off a oem 300 watt psu, and no im not buying a new one, just asking
