OC Q6600 temperature

So I just overclocked my Q6600 to 2.8ghz and it idles at about 38ºC. After running orthos and prime95 (at the same time, so I was loading 3 cores), I hit a maximum temperature of 65ºC. However in heavy gaming I've never broken 55º. Is it a safe temperature to stay at? By the way I'm at stock voltage. 6600

65 degrees Celsius is very hot for a Q6600 processor to run at. From what I have read you should not run this processor at more than a maximum of 62.2 Celsius as it could damage it.

I would try and keep the temperatures with the Core 2 Quad 6600 at no higher than 52 degrees Celsius to be safe.

It won't damage it if it only hits 65C under full load stress testing if you mainly play games. I actually had mine up to 73C before I stopped the stress test (of course I didn't leave it at those specs). So I downclocked mine to 3.0GHz for the time being until I get a better cooler.
