OC Ram?

mobo list:
DDR4 3400+(OC)*/2933(OC)/2800(OC)/2400(OC)/2133/1866

Does Oc stand for over clock? If I want a stable computer, can I runt he faster ram speeds? I norm buy enough horse power to avoid needing to overclock cpu or gpu. 2133 seems to be the fastest without OC listed. Should I go for one of the OC rams?

whats your ram speed now?dont think its gonna make much difference tho.the gpus are your weakest link right now.

It means that yes you could buy 3400mhz RAM and put it in but it would need configuring in the bios to run correctly and it may be unstable. The 2166mhz without the (OC) means the fastest it will support as a given stable speed. you can then fidle around in the bios to adjust to a higher speed, but as it is into the (OC) range some of the higher speeds may be unstable.

In terms of gaming higher RAM speeds doesnt make much of a difference its mainly opening of apps etc. such as between 1600mhz and 2166mhz there may be a few fps difference.

This is for a new build. Hd speed is my biggest problem now. Gpu's arn't great, but they don't suck.

Try utilizing SSD's of you need faster storage. There are some 500GB+ drives out there for decent prices if you're considering solid state speeds.

Yep, will do in next build, i will have 3 ssd in raid 0. All games will be on there.
Then for storage i will have a 4 disk raid 10. Important stuff will go on their. i use 10 instead of 5 because i need high write speeds.

My current rig was designed with 2 os drives in raid 1 and 6 storage drives in raid 10. The problem is i was poor and their for didnt buy enterprise drives. When it works, i can get supper fast transfer speeds on the raid 10, but it easily degrades and needs rebuilding. Im currently running off a single os drive since the raids keep failing. Caviar blacks are not good for raid. I was poor though and back then ssd's were way to expensive.
