Odd Immediate Shut down

I am running on a laptop with Vista on and lately it has been shutting down just out of the blue. I made sure it was plugged in, I checked the temperature and it was fine. Although I have been having a weird buzzing sound with the fan when I start it up ( planning to get a new one ) what is going on with it and how can I fix it?

To me that seems like a battery issue.

How long have you been using this laptop? Have you ever cleaned the cooling unit? The back of your laptop can usually get clogged up with dust and hair. So take it apart and clean it out.

Laptops automatically shut down if they overheat. I don't think it's the battery.

Iv'e had it for about 3 years. I don't remember the last time I cleaned it but I know I have.
