odd keyboard errors...

i got a new keyboard recently causemy old one is crap, but since i first used it every once in a while while restarting i get a message say 301 keyboard error or text fixture installed, and every few keys i hit when it's started up the computer goes crazy, freezes up, and makes the beep noise a millio times over, and i can't do anything till it stops.
anyone know what the problem here could be??


<edit> getting another error as well,
304 keyboard, unit error

Could be a few things..

1 bad keyboard
2 you have the mouse and keyboard cables plugged in backwards
3 it needs the drivers installed
4 there may be a key stuck on the keyboard
5 not compatable with your PC

Theres more reasons but thats a start..
