Odd noise as CPU temp increases

I recently bought some Studio Monitors that are alternative speakers for my computer. At certain times, I hear very low odd static noises coming out of them. Not until today when I ran an extremely CPU intensive program did I have any idea why or when it came. I watched my CPU temps as I ran this program and they rose up to 70, sometimes 75. Throughout the entire process, my speakers were making an audible noise that sounded like static.

After unplugging them from the computer, it ceased. Oddly enough, I heard that exact same staticy noise coming from inside the tower, but no clue where. Perhaps the sound card? What kind of noise is that and why would it be caused?

Anyway, I actually smelled what seemed like burning, so I immediately ceased the program and am just about to downclock my CPU from where it is currently clocked to.

My main question is what the heck were those noises coming from, and why do they pass through to my speakers?

It could be a poorly designed MB - the digital data being picked up by the audio circuit. It's more likely to be the PSU and particularly if you can hear it inside the case. Take a listen. The cardboard centre from a paper towel or toilet roll to your ear makes a good sounding tube if you can't find your stethoscope. I doubt there is much you can do about it.

If it gets really hot, crack an egg on the case and voila, Oeufs au Ordinateur.
